DJ Zapper is a New Rochelle-born, Brooklyn-raised producer and songwriter whose passion for music ignited at an early age through classical piano training. Growing up immersed in the electrifying sounds of disco, pop, and freestyle in the ‘70s and ‘80s, he spent countless hours recording tracks off the radio and crafting his own productions.
Brooklyn played a pivotal role in shaping his musical identity. Living in one of the most influential music hubs, DJ Zapper absorbed the city's raw energy and thriving DJ culture. His family’s audio retail business placed him at the heart of the scene, supplying DJ equipment to the very artists who were redefining dance music.
In the '90s, he immersed himself in sequencing and MIDI production, collaborating with industry talents like Zahid Tariq ("Love Letter" with Todd Terry) and Jack Malken ("I’m Losing You" with Althea Rodgers). Working alongside renowned producers and engineers in legendary New York City studios, he sharpened his craft, gaining invaluable insight into the artistry of mixing and production.
Throughout the decade, he produced freestyle and club tracks, including a vinyl release, solidifying his roots in dance music. Now, DJ Zapper blends nostalgia with modern energy, creating tracks that keep dance floors moving.
